When the desert bakes, Arizona riders head up to Flagstaff, where hundreds of miles of trail run through ponderosa pine below the San Francisco Peaks. Fort Valley and Schultz Creek link into the steeper Mount Elden and Dry Lake Hills system, Campbell Mesa has mellow loops, and the 42-mile Flagstaff Loop Trail circles town. It suits cross-country and trail riders who want summer riding with a real town attached.
