Grand Lake Marina paddle rentals are closed for 2026; park timed entry runs late May to mid-October

Colorado’s largest natural lake, at Rocky’s west gate.

Grand Lake is a deep, glacier-carved lake of just over 500 acres on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, with the town’s beach and marinas on its shore. Paddle the main lake, or slip through the channel under the bridge into shallow Shadow Mountain Reservoir to look for moose and nesting osprey among the islands. It suits families and easy day paddles, with the park’s trails a few minutes away.
