Weekend ski resort in Greer

1,900 ft vertical · 1,200 acres · 67 trails · 8 lifts

Season Nov 27 – Mar 21

Targets opening in 29 days

Snow-dependent with limited snowmaking. 2026-27 season passes are on sale and the pass page anticipates a Thanksgiving Friday opening (it lists Nov 28), but dry starts push it later: 2025-26 opened Dec 12 and closed in mid-March. Usually runs to late March.

Arizona’s largest ski area, run by the Apache Tribe.

Owned and run by the White Mountain Apache Tribe, Sunrise spreads 67 trails over three peaks (Sunrise, Apache and Cyclone Circle) in the White Mountains, about four hours from Phoenix and Tucson. It suits families and intermediates who want room to spread out, with tubing, an alpine coaster and holiday night skiing, but it leans on natural snow.

What skiers love

  • Three peaks spread people out, so lines stay short away from Sunrise Peak
  • After a good storm the snow can be excellent, at prices well below Colorado
  • Friendly, relaxed staff and a tribe-run, small-mountain feel

Heads-up

  • Older lifts and lodges, and grooming can lag for days after a storm
